DLW Dispatches Loco to Vishakhapattanam Port Trust |
Diesel Locomotive Works had received an order for supply of 01 no. locomotive to Vishakhapattanam Port Trust. It is a matter of great pride that DLW manufactured and supplied this locomotive in a very short period of 70 days time limit. Performing the rituals General Manager Shri S.M.Bhardwaj flagged off this flower bedecked locomotive in a simple ceremony held at DLW workshop on 30th June, 2009. Addressing on this occasion Shri Bhardwaj said that this year we have manufactured 257 locos, which is the highest ever production in the annals of DLW. But it has been made possible by the committed and determined team of DLW officers, supervisors and employees. Definitely such type of commitment of DLW employees towards their work will be a motivation not only for the railway production units, but also for the whole Indian Railways.
This 3100 HP WDG-3A locomotive no. HP-3 VPT is equipped with special features as per the demand of Vishakhapattanam Port Trust. This 16 cylinder diesel locomotive is equipped with microprocessor controlled system also. It is worthwhile to mention here that till now DLW has supplied 381 locos to Non-Railway customers (Industrial Organisations) in country, in which 22 locos are included for Vishakhapattanam Port Trust. On this occasion Chief Mechanical Engineer Shri Niraj Kumar, Chief Mechanical Engineer/Prod. Shri Vivek Kumar, Controller of Stores Shri Mahesh Chandra, Financial Advisor & Chief Accounts Officer Shri N.P.Pandey, Chief Marketing Manager Shri A.K.Sharma, Chief Design Engneer Shri Atulya Sinha, Chief Quality Assurance Manager Shri A.K.Singh alongwith other officers and employees were present in a large number.
Member Mechanical, Railway Board flagged off 257th loco of the year at DLW |
Shri Praveen Kumar, Member Mechanical, Railway Board visited Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi on 1st April, 2009. During his visit to workshop he flagged off flower bedecked 257th locomotive of financial year 2008-09, painted in resplendent colour scheme. It is worthwhile to mention here that this year Railway Board has given the highest ever production target of 250 locomotives to DLW. Adding another feather in its cap, DLW manufactured 257 locomotives against this huge target i.e 07 locomotives over the target. 80 most modern WDG4 locomotives are included in this figure, which is also the highest ever production of such type of locomotives. This above mentioned EMD design WDG4 locomotive no. 12209 is being sent to Siliguri Shed of North Frontier Railway. On this occasion Shri S.M. Bhardwaj, General Manager, Shri Niraj Kumar, CME, Shri Mahesh Chandra, COS, Shri Hemant Katiyar, CME/P including other officers and employees were present in a large number. Earlier, In the workshop Shri Praveen Kumar witnessed ongoing manufacturing process of locomotives and discussed future plans for enhancing production of latest technology high horse power E.M.D. locomotives. He took keen interest in inspecting the expension and upgradation of manufacturing facilities in the Workshop.
Later, Shri Praveen Kumar held a meeting with GM, CME and other senior officers and discussing various technical aspects reviewed the progress of different ongoing projects through a presentation on DLW. He also met Shri Chhote Lal, Joint Secretary, DLW Staff Council and Members as well as representatives of other employees' associations and received memorandum from them.
